A former comptroller at the Bronx Botanical Gardens was planted in state prison yesterday on charges of embezzling $350,000 from her ex-employer.
Sandra Smith, 48 – whose salary was $70,000 a year – was sentenced her to three to six years in prison on a single grand-larceny charge.
An internal audit discovered the thefts after Smith left the job and moved to North Carolina. Prosecutors say she used the cash to finance a lavish lifestyle.
