FIRE KILLS PREGNANT WOMAN, 19

A four-months pregnant woman was killed in a Bronx house fire early yesterday – while a baby and toddler who lived in the building were saved by good Samaritans in a dramatic rescue, cops and neighbors said.

Casandra Young, 19, died of smoke inhalation in the top floor of her boyfriend’s three-story family home in Soundview, which was struck by a roiling 6:15 a.m. inferno that sent flames shooting through windows, witnesses said.

A baby and a young girl survived by being dropped from a third-story window into the waiting arms of a livery cab driver – who jumped out of his car when he saw the fire and teamed up with an unidentified passer-by to save the tots, neighbors said.

“I saw the baby and another girl get tossed out the window, and these two guys caught them,” said a neighbor.

“There were raging flames shooting out the window, and eventually it burned a hole in the roof,” said a man who lives in a neighboring building.

Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze, but believe it was an accidental electrical fire.

A building resident and a firefighter were taken to Jacobi Hospital with minor injuries.
