WEIRD BUT TRUE

Seattle SWAT-team cops had a dog-day afternoon when they surrounded a house for five hours, believing a psycho gunman was inside – when it was just a friendly pooch.

Officers rushed to the home after a neighbor reported hearing gunshots.

When hours passed without a response, they burst in – to discover a tail-wagging mutt who happily licked their faces.

Germany’s top court has OK’d partner-swapping in Bavaria, dismissing complaints that “swingers clubs” are immoral.

The decision is a victory for Volker Erhardt, who has fought opposition to his swingers’ club for years.

“This is very positive for all German swingers,” said Erhardt, owner of Club Carat in Wuerzburg.

A man in China has accused his neighbor of fowl play, saying he trained his pet mynah bird to say nasty things.

Mr. Lee is suing the bird’s owner, Mr. Feng, claiming the bird squawks, “Lee is bad! Lee is bad! You’re bad!”

Lee is demanding an apology, but Feng insists his pet knows how to say only greetings like, “How are you, sir?” or “How are you, miss?” and “Goodbye.”

Bushman – who first found fame at the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair, where he hurled dung at those near his cage – was stuffed after he died in the 1950s, but was never exhibited.

Now the Lincoln Park Zoo has taken him out of storage for a new generation of admirers.

A freshly caught fish survived for 15 hours in a refrigerator.

Mike Reeves of Christchurch, England, opened his fridge to cook the turbot he’d caught the day before, and found it was still moving.

He placed the fish in cold water and phoned an aquarium. The staff there revived it in a tank of saltwater and named it Herbert. Herbert has made a full recovery and is now the star attraction at the Blue Reef Aquarium.
