B’KLYN LAWYER GUILTY IN $2M RIPOFF OF OLD FOLKS

A former Brooklyn lawyer pleaded guilty yesterday to 19 counts of grand larceny after swindling 20 elderly people out of a whopping $2 million.

Frank Gangemi, 39, the son of former City Councilman John Gangemi, admitted in Brooklyn Supreme Court to ripping off the elderly clients, including a 90-year-old distant relative.

The Bay Ridge lawyer promised his clients he would invest the money for them, but instead bilked them out of their life savings.

“It is unconscionable that this attorney would take advantage of these innocent, trusting people,” said Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes.

Gangemi, faces five to 15 years in prison at sentencing.
