FIRE-DAMAGED TRACKS FIXED

Subway service on the 2 and 3 lines is expected be normal by today’s morning rush hour, said the Transit Authority, which had scrambled over the weekend to repair extensive damage from a track fire.

Friday’s fire on tracks south of the 110th Street station in Harlem wreaked havoc on the lines, causing service to be suspended on the 2 between Times Square and 149th Street in The Bronx, and on the 3 line north of West 137th Street in Manhattan.

It also required transit workers to repair many signals and switches, said TA spokesman James Anyasi.
