PUBLISHER’S JET-SETTING WIFE SPENT $3M SPIFFING UP PLANE

Conrad Black’s wife, Barbara Amiel – better known as Lady Black – spent more than $3 million to redecorate the interior of one of Hollinger’s corporate jets, The Post has learned.

“Her extravagance knows no bounds,” said one source.

Now, she has ridden on the jet for the last time.

The company said yesterday it is selling the Challenger jet and it is seeking to get out of a lease for a Gulfstream 4.

Black’s resignation as Hollinger CEO yesterday may bring to an end his and his wife’s extravagant lifestyle, which has been funded by corporate money.

In addition to the planes, Black and his wife enjoyed maid and butler service on the company dime, sources said. All told, ending Black’s perks – including maintenance on the jets – could save the company about $30 million annually.

Black and his wife own luxurious homes in New York City, London, Toronto and Palm Beach.

As the scandal rippled across the media world yesterday, Black was said to be holed up in his country estate outside Toronto.

Black could also potentially lose his coveted seat in Britain’s House of Lords.

Sources said Black could be on the hook for criminal liabilities stemming from the disclosure that he accepted unauthorized payments from the company – which, if he is convicted, could get him booted from the House of Lords.
