BOMB THREAT GROUNDS PLANE

A plane bound for Newark was detained in San Francisco after someone phoned in a bomb threat to the airport, San Francisco airport police said early this morning.

The caller warned a bomb would explode aboard ATA flight 618 at about 1 a.m eastern time, cops said. The flight was scheduled to take off about an hour earlier.

All 227 passengers were removed from the plane and were re-screened as was all the luggage on board. Although the callers’ deadline passed, the search of the plane continued early this morning, but police believed the threat was a hoax.
