BRIGHT STARS OF BRONX HONORED

A dozen of the borough’s “best and the brightest” were given the best kind of Bronx cheer yesterday when plaques bearing their names were hung on the Grand Concourse’s “Walk of Fame.”

Among those attending the ceremonies were Hollywood columnist Army Archerd; legendary rapper Kurtis Blow; “Sopranos” actor Dominic Chianese, two members of the ’60s girl group The Chiffons; Latin jazz musician Eddie Palmieri, Villanova basketball coach Ed Pinkney, merengue singer Joseíto Mateo and NPR’s Daniel Schorr.

“We want to celebrate the best and the brightest of The Bronx – people who have contributed to arts, culture, business and American political life,” said Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrión. “I think more than anything we want to showcase to the children . . . you can start here and get anywhere you dream.”
