COMEBACK IN MONTANA

WASHINGTON – Montana GOP Sen. Conrad Burns, left for dead by pundits and party power brokers, has clawed his way back into a virtual tie with upstart Democratic challenger Jon Tester, a new poll shows.

Burns’ surge has prompted political handicappers and party operatives to pull the race out of the Democratic win column and into the tossup category.

Democrats need to pick up a net six seats on Election Day to take the Senate.
