PERVS UNDER THE RADAR

Dangerous, convicted sex offenders in Nassau County, including child molesters, are being monitored only during business hours – not at night, or on weekends and holidays, a Long Island official revealed yesterday.

Nassau Controller Howard Weitzman discovered that sex offenders wearing court-ordered ankle bracelets are not being monitored around the clock.

He said there are some 300 sex offenders on probation but only about nine to 15 of them are considered such high risk that judges ordered they be fitted with the GPS ankle bracelets – to keep them away from public parks, schools, or specific victims, Weitzman said.
