KEN BURNS’ NEXT: WWII

KEN Burns, the filmmaker who created such definitive historical series as “The Civil War” and “Baseball,” is taking on World War II next.

A preview of the 14-hour film, “The War,” will be screened next week in New Orleans at an international conference on World War II.

The entire series is set to air next September on PBS.

Burns has said that “The War” will explore the history and horror of WWII from an American perspective by following the fortunes of so-called ordinary men and women who got caught up in the action.

PBS has slated the film to run over two weeks in two-hour chunks.
