BECKS BENCHED

Soccer superstar David Beckham found out yesterday that he’ll be sidelined for the rest of his stint in Madrid – as his wife, Victoria, embarked on another house-hunting trip to Hollywood.

David Beckham, 31, is under contract to stay with Real Madrid until June 30, when he starts his five-year, $250 million contract with Major League Soccer’s L.A. Galaxy – but the Spanish squad’s coach said he won’t be getting his cleats on the field anytime before then.

“He will practice, but he is not going to play,” Fabio Capello said. “He has always been a great professional, but a player who has such a major contract with another team . . . we cannot count on him.”

Beckham’s spokesman, Simon Oliveira, said the hunky athlete was “surprised” by Capello’s comments.

“As far as David is aware, he has a contract for the remainder of the season, and he remains dedicated to the club and its supporters,” Oliveira said.

Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham, meanwhile, yesterday morning boarded a London flight to L.A., where she has been shopping for a home since before Christmas.
