SPIDEY SETS AMAZING RECORD WITH $148M

“Spider-Man 3” spun a web of gold at the box office over the weekend, scaling to the top spot with a record-breaking $148 million in ticket sales.

The web-slinger beat the previous three-day North American record of $135.6 million, set last summer by “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.”

Spidey also broke the single-day box-office record with $59.3 million on Friday – once again, stomping on “Dead Man’s Chest,” which had held the spot with $55.8 million.

“Spider-Man 3,” with Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker and Kirsten Dunst as girl-next-door Mary Jane Watson, has made $375 million worldwide.

The drama “Lucky You,” starring Drew Barrymore and Eric Bana, was the only other wide-release debut. It lost its shirt at No. 6, with $2.5 million.

The teen-oriented “Disturbia” kicked down a notch to second place with $5.7 million, followed by the crime thriller “Fracture,” starring Anthony Hopkins, with $3.5 million.
