PITCHING A HARLEM HOLIDAY

Coming this winter: It’s Christmastime at the Apollo.

Harlem’s famed Apollo Theater has its sights set on gobbling up some of the lucrative holiday business dominated by Radio City Music Hall’s annual Christmas Spectacular with a family-friendly show of its own, “The Apollo Circus of Soul.”

The show – produced by Carl Freed of Trevanna Entertainment, the company behind radio station Hot 97’s annual “Summer Jam” – kicks off Nov. 23 and is expected to run for five weeks.

The move is the latest in a series of family shows looking to feast on some of the seasonal cheer that helped the Radio City show gross $95.8 million in ticket sales last year, according to Billboard Boxscore data.

Montreal-based Cirque Du Soleil is also getting in on the act. Its Wintuk winter-themed show opens in November at the WaMu Theater in Madison Square Garden.

“Circus of Soul” will combine elements of a circus performance with a variety show reminiscent of the “Showtime At The Apollo” television program. It will feature illusionists, jugglers, acrobats and trapeze artists, as well as dancers, singers and comedians.

While not as Christmas-y as Radio City, the night at the Apollo includes karaoke-style singing of holiday songs.
