MORE TV CASTAWAYS

NBC is hoping to strand viewers on its own deserted island with a new TV version of “Robinson Crusoe.”

If it gets on the air, the castaway drama, based on the novel written in 1719 by Daniel Defoe, would join CBS’ “Survivor” and ABC’s “Lost” as the third major “marooned on an island” network show.

“It’s part ‘MacGyver,’ part contemporary morality tale about race and personal discovery,” NBC entertainment boss Ben Silverman told The Hollywood Reporter.

The show is slated for 2009.
