FIGHT TO BAR TERROR LAWYER

Students today plan to protest Hofstra University Law School’s invitation to disbarred terror lawyer Lynne Stewart to speak at a legal-ethics conference.

The invitation to Stewart, convicted of smuggling secret messages out of prison for Islamic terrorist Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman, already prompted an angry editorial in the school newspaper.

“How horrible does someone need to be and what heinous acts must they commit, before it is okay to say that they should not be put behind a podium and given a microphone?” the editorial asked.

Assistant Law School Dean Joanna Grossman said Stewart’s appearance will be a cautionary tale, showing “what happens when a lawyer gets too close to a client” and oversteps “criminal bounds.”
