APPLE GIVES DEMS EDGE

ALBANY – John McCain leads Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama in the suburbs and upstate, but trails statewide because of strong New York City support for the Democrats, according to a poll released yesterday.

The Siena College poll of voters found McCain ahead of Clinton and Obama in the suburbs, 46 to 40 percent, and 44 to 36 percent, respectively, while the GOPer led upstate, 50 to 39, and 45 to 40.

But in the city, Clinton led McCain, 59 to 31, while Obama was ahead, 55 to 32. Statewide, Clinton’s lead was 46 to 42, while Obama led, 45 to 40.
