BEEP BOOST FOR DEBLASIO

City Councilman Bill deBlasio got a boost in his bid for Brooklyn Borough President yesterday, picking up the endorsement of two key colleagues in next year’s race.

Rep. Yvette Clark and Rep. Nydia Velázquez stood with deBlasio on the steps of City Hall, praising him as the candidate best prepared to represent New York’s biggest borough.

Velázquez said deBlasio has the “ability to bring people together” and is “the right fit for our community.”

Clark called him “a fighter for the needs of Brooklyn families.”

DeBlasio, who represents Park Slope, is running against a field that includes East New York Councilman Charles Barron.

“I’m focused on four things.” DeBlasio said. “Protecting our neighborhood scale, creating affordable housing, supporting our children with affordable child care and a greener Brooklyn.”

DeBlasio said his campaign has raised more than $177,000 in the last filing period.

Borough President Marty Markowitz is prevented from running again because of term limits.
