Blackhawks would talk to Devils

The Calagry Herald reports the Chicago Blackhawks may be willing to trade Nikolai Khabibulin to the Devils, who are without Martin Brodeur for 3-4 months after elbow surgery.

“I haven’t talked to Lou (Lamoriello), but it’s not like I wouldn’t listen if he calls,” Blackhawks general manager Dale Tallon said. “I’m not going to say no (to a trade). The asset value for a goalie has risen.”

The Herald reports the Blackhawks put Khabibulin on waivers before the season started to dump his $6.75 million salary, but there were no takers. Now, he’s sharing duties with Cristobal Huet, signed as a free agent in July.
