TEACHER OF AUTISTIC KIDS CRUSHED BY BUS

A teacher of autistic kids slipped and fell under a city bus and was crushed to death last night, cops said.

Hwi Wu, 26, from Ridgewood, Queens, fell beneath the B52 bus as it turned off Myrtle Avenue onto Palmetto Street, in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

The accident left the bus driver and passers-by weeping as they frantically tried to save her life, police said.

“For me, I always think of her as one of my daughters,” David Liu, a friend of Wu’s from the New York Christian Church in Elmhurst, said.

“I loved her very much and I can’t believe that this has happened.”

Wu, who graduated from LaGuardia Community College last year and worked with autistic children at a Queens day care center, had immigrated from China seven years ago, her friends said.

“For her family, all their hopes depended on her,” Liu’s wife, Deborah, said. “Everybody’s crying.”

Wu had been talking on a cellphone when she lost her footing at 10.30 p.m., cops said.

She was given CPR at the scene by passers-by, but died at Wyckoff Hospital.

Police sources said no criminality was involved.
