GAL MAIMED IN SUBWAY NIGHTMARE

A woman lost her leg yesterday when she toppled from a Harlem subway platform and was hit by a train.

The unidentified victim fainted on the southbound platform of the 125th Street/Lexington Avenue station, fell between two cars of the No. 5 train as it was pulling away, and tumbled onto the tracks at 5:39 p.m.

Witnesses alerted the station agent, who called the rail-control center.

But they were unable to stop an oncoming No. 4 train, which struck the woman.

Some witnesses said they believe the woman had also been hit by the 5 train before the other train entered the station.

The woman was taken to Harlem Hospital and was expected to survive, sources said.

Subway service was interrupted in both directions for more than an hour.
