Architect Talks: Focus on 13th Street

In this series of Architect Talks, the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation (GVSHP) invites the architects of several new buildings in designated historic districts in Greenwich Village, the East Village and NoHo to share their thoughts on appropriate design for the neighborhoods. This talk will focus on 39 E. 13th St., where Phillip Wu carefully restored the elegant cast-iron facade of this building and then added a modern twist — three additional floors in translucent materials with colored lighting, drawing inspiration from but still contrasting with its 19th-century history. 6:30-8 pm. Free. The Center for Architecture, 536 LaGuardia Place, 212-683-0023. RSVP to [email protected] or 212-475-9585 ext. 35.
