Bloomberg: We won’t tolerate gang mayhem

Per The Post’s Dave Seifman, Mayor Bloomberg had some tough words for the people responsible for a night of Midtown mayhem that prompted a string of arrests — and said the cops did what they could to prevent it but “they can’t be everywhere.”

“The mayhem in Midtown appears to be a bunch of gang members wilding,” Bloomberg told reporters after an event on Staten Island, and said pointedly, “We’re not going to tolerate it.”

He said it happens every year at the tail end of the auto show on the West Side.

“There’s a bunch of people who seem to think it’s cute to go out, run around and cause chaos,” he added. “We loaded the area up with police but they can’t be everywhere.”

Dozens of people were arrested, and four people were shot, after a night of foving violence following the auto show.
