Necklace thief nabbed: cops

A Chelsea chain snatcher was snatched by police after he robbed four women of their necklaces, including an 83-year-old in the lobby of her building, cops said.

George Perez, 47, of Brooklyn, was busted yesterday and charged with robbery and grand larceny, police said. It was not immediately clear how cops tracked him down.

Perez began his crime spree at 11:40 a.m. on June 24, when he confronted a 42-year-old woman on West 17th Street near Ninth Avenue and ripped off her neck chain, cops said.

He struck again in the same area at 11:35 a.m. on July 3 as a 64-year-old woman was emerging from her car. This time, he snuck up behind his victim, snatched her chain and ran.

Perez then robbed a 62-year-old woman in the lobby of her West 27th Street building on the afternoon of July 12.

In his final theft on July 10, he grabbed a chain from an 83-year-old woman as she was retrieving mail in the lobby of her West 28th Street building.
