Sicko hosp ‘scammer’ is set free

A nutty, alleged hospital scammer, who cops say puts the “con” in hypochondriac, yesterday was freed for the time being, after Manhattan prosecutors failed to win a timely indictment against him.

Nicholas Spampanato remains charged with conning New York-Presbyterian Hospital out of $67,000 to treat cancer he didn’t have.

Officials say Spampanato has pulled the scam at least three times, including at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn and Somerset Hospital in Somerville, NJ.

“You embarrassed the “s- – t” out of me with that thing!” Spampanato 41, of Brooklyn cheerfully joked to a reporter about a Post story Tuesday on his alleged exploits.

He described the charges against him as “bulls- -t.”
