Jets’ Sanchez says shoulder ‘getting better’

Mark Sanchez practiced fully on Wednesday and said his injured shoulder is “ready to go” when the Jets face the Patriots on Sunday.

“I [fully practiced] today for the first time in a while, and that was huge,’’ the quarterback said. “We know it’s getting better and that’s the most important thing, is week by week it’s getting better, so I’ll be ready to go.”

Sanchez has been bothered by the right throwing shoulder since injuring it in a win over the Steelers on Dec. 19. Sanchez has won three of four games, including the one in which he was injured, but threw several inaccurate passes in last week’s playoff win over the Colts.

“I think I was just not throwing the ball very well. Some days you’re off or you’ve got to finds a way to make it work,” he said. “And I think we did that just getting completions underneath, being smart taking our shots when we got them and giving our guys a chance, and that was the most important thing.”

Sanchez (18 of 31, 189 yards vs. Colts) did complete 9 of his final 11 passes, including one to Braylon Edwards to set up Nick Folk’s game-winning 32-yard field goal.

“It wasn’t the best throw in the world to Braylon and I’m not afraid to admit that, and he made a really good catch,” Sanchez said. “However it has to happen, we won the game and we’re in the divisional round and that’s the most important thing.”
