App to ace job interview

Monster’s free Interviews app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch provides tips and tools to help you prepare for your interview, get ready the day of your sit-down and effectively follow up with the company.

The app lets you enter pertinent details about your interview including the company name, with whom you’ll be speaking, when the meeting is set to take place and whether it’s over the phone or in person.

The “Pre-Interview” section of the app allows you to research the company and people with whom you’ll be meeting, and it gives you tips and techniques to assist in your preparation. You can even practice answering tough interview questions, either by typing your responses or recording audio or video. Monster also claims that the app provides expert tips about what to wear.

The “Interview Day” section includes brain exercises to sharpen your mind, last-minute tips and a map with directions to your meeting location. The app also uses GPS to identify nearby resources like coffee shops or printers.

The “Post-Interview” section lets you record your impressions of how the interview went as well as any important thoughts or information you don’t want to forget.
