Port Richmond girls complete three-peat, MSIT takes SI indoor crown

Make it three straight PSAL Staten Island indoor titles for Port Richmond.

The girls squad bested Curtis 160-87 at the Armory on Sunday. McKee/Staten Island Tech was third with 87 points. Shi Anne Humes won the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.56, the 300 in 41.24 ahead of teammate Yasmin Wilson Jones who was second with a mark of 41.24.

Alison Doway took home the 600 crown with a time of 1:39.85 and fellow Raider Amanda DelaCruz placed second in 1:40.67, who was also second in the 3000 (10:33.95).

Katrina Hill was Port Richmond’s star in the field events. She won the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 6.5 inches and the triple jump in 36-03.00. Zaquaysia Floyd was the shot put champ thanks to a toss of 30-01.00 Port Richmond swept the relays. The team of Doway, Florina Jajaga, Kassandra Somers, and Christina Burgos won the 4 x 800 relay in 10:10.02. Jajaga, Delacruz, Wilson Jones and Agu took home the 4 x 400 with crown with a time of 4:12.96. The squad of Jajaga, Clark, Adrianna Vaught, Casie Clark and Ashley Stewart place first in the 4 x 200 with a mark of 1:51.68.

Susan Wagner’s Christina Melian won both the 1500 (4:56.54) and the 3000 in 10:15.65. Fellow Falcon Emily Crowl was tops in the pole vault with a mark of 8-00. Curtis’ Brigette Pewu took home the 55 dash title with a mark of 8.77. Teammate Corinne Birchard won the 1000 in 3:02.16. MSIT’s Jessica Szela was the race walk champ with a time of 7:45.74. Tottenville’s Emily Woo was tops in the high jump with a leap of 4-10.00.

Staten Island had a new champion on the boys side. McKee/Staten Island Tech took the crown 168-102 over Curtis. Defending champion Port Richmond was third with 87 points.

MSIT’s Leo Bonfante won the 1,600 with a time of 4:41.25. Jason Woo took home the high jump crown with a leap of 5 feet, 10 inches and was third in the 55 hurdles. (8.89). The Seagulls’ Oscar Wan was second in the 55 hurdles (8.89) behind winner Colonel Fakorode (8.58) of Susan Wagner. The team of Jeffrey Cadwell, Cody Fortunato, Ivan Cooper and Cyrenius Nelson won the 4 x 200 relay in 1:35.12.

Jeremy Jones and Jeffery Caldwell went first and second in the pole vault with marks of 12-00 and 10-00 respectively. Cooper was second in the 55 dash with a time of 6.89 behind Susan Wagner’s Benjamin Ezike (6.89). Ezike also won the long jump with a leap of 21-03.25 ahead of MSIT’s Ashton Allan (18-08.50) and was also tops in the triple jump (43-02.25).

Curtis’ Rolando Ball was first in the 600 in 1:26.84 and in the 3200 with a mark of 10:03.63. Teammate Samuel Obisanya was the 1000 champ with a time of 2:42.34 and Brandon Stapleton took home the shot put crown with at toss of 39-07.50. Port Richmond’s Dennis Diaz took home the 300 title with a time of 36.94
