‘Disappointed’ Tebow says he’ll address Jets future after season

A clearly annoyed Tim Tebow did not provide many answers Wednesday discussing being passed over by the Jets.

What he didn’t say was perhaps more telling. Tebow would not address whether he wants to remain a Jet in 2013, something he has said earlier in the season. He said he has not asked to be traded, but said he would not address his future until after the season is over.

“I look forward to talking about it after the Buffalo game,” Tebow said.

Jets coach Rex Ryan went with Greg McElroy to replace Mark Sanchez at quarterback rather than Tebow, who has been the backup all season.

Tebow said when he was told Tuesday he was, “obviously a little disappointed, but you try and handle it the best you can.”

It was the most outwardly upset that Tebow has been with the media this season. He said he doesn’t fully grasp why the Jets traded for him if they weren’t going to use him.

“Some things are hard to understand but they’re trying to do the best they can and I understand that,” Tebow said.

When asked if he views himself as just a Wildcat quarterback, he said that he sees himself just as a quarterback.

“Every opportunity you get you want to make the most of,” Tebow said. “I would have loved to have more of an opportunity to just play quarterback.”

He said Ryan did not provide much of an explanation.

“Not really too much of one, just what we’re doing,” he said. “And though you might not agree you have respect for him and the organization and just do the best you can.”
