Beckham got offer from NFL team last year: report

Punt it like Beckham?

David Beckham, one of the most iconic and best players in soccer during his prime, was reportedly offered a trial from an NFL team to be their kicker, according to the U.K. Daily mail. But the 38-year old won’t be kicking field goals instead of scoring goals, as he declined the offer and recently retired from the pitch.

Beckham, known for bending free kicks, played for Manchester United from 1993-2003 winning six Premier League titles and most recently for MLS’ Los Angeles Galaxy where he won two MLS Cups. It is unsure which team offered him a tryout, but they were probably intrigued by Beckham, who has great accuracy and a strong leg.

He received the offer after the 2012 season when he was unsure on his future plans. Beckham eventually played for Paris Saint-Germain in 2013 on loan from the Galaxy before retiring in May.
