Standout from Jets 1969 Super Bowl win dead at age 70

Jim Hudson, who played safety on the Jets 1969 Super Bowl championship team, died Tuesday of traumatic dementia encephalopathy at age 70, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

Hudson played for the Jets from 1965 to 1970. He made a key interception in Super Bowl III just before halftime. Hudson played quarterback and defensive back for Texas and his play in the 1965 Orange Bowl against Alabama drew the attention of Jets scouts who came to see Crimson Tide quarterback Joe Namath.

In 2012, Hudson was inducted into the University of Texas Men’s Hall of Honor.
