The must-see theater extravaganza for the self-hating Knicks fan

The man once known as “Starbury” could now be known as “Showtime.”

Former Knicks point guard Stephon Marbury, remade as a fan favorite for the Beijing Ducks, will be the star of his own play starting in October in China.

The play, titled “I Was Marbury,” will chronicle the Brooklynite’s life during the 2011-12 season, when his team won the Chinese championship.

Marbury scored 41 points in the championship game as his Ducks held off a Guangdong Tigers team led by Aaron Brooks, who was playing in China during the NBA lockout.

According to Sports Illustrated, Zhou Wenhong, the play’s director, has said the play will focus emphasize a “never give up” message, and will feature choreographed basketball moves with dance.

Marbury will appear as himself in the production, but only in a few scenes. The story will primarily focus on other characters who have been inspired by Marbury.

The show will have a different guest star each night, and Yao Ming is scheduled to appear.

The show will run from Oct. 1 to Oct. 11 in Beijing Wukesong Stadium — which happens to have a life-sized Marbury statue outside.
