How the ‘Saved by the Bell’ gang have changed over the years

“Saved by the Bell” is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a new Lifetime movie. Here’s a look at the cast and characters then and now:

The show’s protagonist, this lovable slacker spent most of his time causing trouble and fooling around with girls — only to come back to his fated love, Kelly Kapowski.

Then: Actor Mark-Paul Gosselaar was just as much of a playboy — he dated all three of the show’s female leads.

Now: Gosselaar is happily married and starring on the TNT hit legal procedural “Franklin & Bash.”

The All-American girl next door at the heart of the Zack and Slater love triangle; she and her cheerleader pompoms eventually ended up with Zack.

Then: Actress Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, a Miss Junior America, dated Brian Austin Green of “90210” fame.

Now: Thiessen stars on the USA series “White Collar,” which will soon air its final season.

A.C. Slater

Known by his last name, Slater was the newcomer and resident jock who fell for feminist Jessie Spano.

Then: In 1993, actor Mario Lopez was accused of rape by two women, but prosecutors did not seek charges because no evidence was found.

Now: Lopez has had a second 15 minutes as co-host on “Extra.” He’s also married with two kids.

Zack’s next-door neighbor brought smart-girl spunk to the show, and taught Slater a thing or two about being “a pig.”

Then: After starring on the show, actress and former teen model Elizabeth Berkley appeared in the notorious stinker “Showgirls.”

Now: Berkley placed sixth on “Dancing With the Stars” in 2013. She’s married to Ralph Lauren’s nephew Greg, and the couple has a 2-year-old son.

Samuel “Screech” Powers

The gang’s nerdy tag-along couldn’t catch a break.

Then: Actor Dustin Diamond claims he hooked up with 2,000 women while on the show.

Now: In 2009, he infuriated his castmates by writing a tell-all, “Behind the Bell.” He’s appeared on several reality shows, including “Celebrity Fit Club.” Oh, and he made a sex tape.

A fashionable rich kid who kept the gossip pool at school whirling and had zero interest in Screech’s undying affections.

Then: As a Jehovah’s Witness, actress Lark Voorhies was a relatively good girl.

Now: In 2012, photos of Voorhies’ alleged plastic surgery went viral with headlines like “WTF Happened to Lark Voorhies?”
