TNT’s “Rizzoli & Isles” has been renewed for a sixth season, with stars Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander set to return for another 18 episodes of the crime drama.
The series’ fifth season will conclude in early 2105, with Season Six to premiere this summer.
“Rizzoli & Isles” has been a Top Five series on basic cable for the past five years, averaging 7.6 million viewers last summer (with seven days of DVR viewing factored in).
The procedural drama stars Harmon as police detective Jane Rizzoli and Alexander as medical examiner Maura Isles, who — despite their opposite personalities — work together to solve murder mysteries in Boston. Jordan Bridges, Bruce McGill, Idara Victor and Lorraine Bracco co-star.
“Rizzoli & Isles” joins other returning TNT shows “Major Crimes,” “Falling Skies,” “The Last Ship,” “Murder In the First” and “Legends.”
