Patriots’ Wilfork rescues woman after making Super Bowl

Vince Wilfork’s night wasn’t done after helping the Patriots advance to the Super Bowl.

The mountainous star defensive tackle was driving home from the Patriots’ 45-7 domination of the Colts at Gillette Stadium when he saw an overturned Jeep. When state troopers arrived at the scene of the Route 1 accident, Wilfork was checking on the driver – Mary Ellen Brooks – who was unable to exit the vehicle.

Wilfork, 33, then pulled the allegedly inebriated woman out of the Jeep while the trooper held the door open.

“I saw somebody that needed help, and I helped,” a modest Wilfork told the Boston Herald on Monday morning.

Ironically, Brooks had nearly — and unwittingly — purchased a Wilfork jersey earlier on Sunday before going to the game.

“She wasn’t even sure who Vince Wilfork was before the game, later that night it would be Vince Wilfork plucking her out of her car after she unfortunately had too much to drink,” State Trooper Matt Guarino told ABC News.

“She didn’t find out that Number Seventy-five was the guy who saved her and got her out until after he was gone.”

Brooks was charged with operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
