Rock star tributes, Hollywood biopics and more on TV this week

“Bullseye”

Wednesday, 9 p.m., Fox

“Twilight” star Kellan Lutz hosts this series where eight contestants endure three levels of peculiar physical tests.

In the first challenge, competitors must hit the center of a stationary target while leaping from a moving 18-wheeler, being pulled by a helicopter or serving as a human slingshot projected hundreds of feet through the air.

The contestant who comes out on top (and can still breathe) wins $50,000.

“Wayward Pines”

Thursday, 9 p.m., Fox

Ethan (Matt Dillon) is shocked to learn that his old girlfriend Kate (Carla Gugino) participated in Beverly’s (Juliette Lewis) heinous “reckoning.”

Although determined to leave Wayward Pines, Ethan meets real estate agent Peter McCall (Justin Kirk), who gives him a new house. Meanwhile, Ethan’s wife heads to Idaho to find her man.

“Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony”

Saturday, 8 p.m., HBO

The late Lou Reed, Bill Withers, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Green Day, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Ringo Starr are among the lucky inductees in this year’s ceremony, which happened April 18 in Cleveland.

Paul McCartney introduced Ringo, Patti Smith did Lou Reed and Miley Cyrus inducted Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Scheduled performers include Beck, Joe Walsh, Tom Morello, John Legend and Jimmie Vaughan.

“American Ninja Warrior”

Tuesday, 8 p.m., NBC

Competitors tackle the world’s most difficult obstacle courses in qualifying and finals rounds across the country. Those who successfully complete the challenges in each city will move on to the national finals round in Las Vegas and compete for a $1,000,000 prize.

In the first qualifying round, contestants must triumph over six obstacles, including the Mini Silk Slider, Spin Cycle and Hourglass Drop.

“American Ninja Warrior” veterans Kevin Bull and David Campbell return for another shot at completing the course, while former Baltimore Raven and Super Bowl Champion Brendon Ayanbadejo and current NFL player Jon Ryan of the Seattle Seahawks take on the course for the first time.

“The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe”

Saturday and Sunday, 8 p.m., Lifetime

There have been several TV adaptations of the life of Norma Jeane Mortenson (Kelli Garner), who became Marilyn Monroe, one of the most famous women in history. She lived a fairly tragic life before being discovered by a Hollywood talent scout.

Raised in foster homes after her schizophrenic mother, Gladys (Susan Sarandon), was institutionalized, Norma Jeane was always looking for a father figure, and she met two famous ones — New York Yankee Joe DiMaggio (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and playwright Arthur Miller (Stephen Bogaert) — before a disastrous entanglement with the Kennedy brothers. She overdosed in 1962 at age 36.

“Grace of Monaco”

Monday, 9 p.m., Lifetime

Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein bought this movie thinking it was an Oscar shoo-in for frozen-faced Nicole Kidman. The premiere at Cannes was a disaster, and the film was never released theatrically in the US. And that’s how “Grace of Monaco” ended up on Lifetime.

The film follows Grace Kelly’s life as Princess of Monaco during a divisive time, as she struggled with her decision to act again in a Hitchcock film while her husband expected her to toe the royal line. Tim Roth co-stars as Prince Rainier III.

“The Briefcase”

Wednesday, 8 p.m., CBS

Emotions run high when the Bergin family from Matthews, N.C., and the Bronson family from Manchester, N.H. are presented with a life-changing amount of money and a huge decision.

Do they keep it, or share it with the other family? Initially, they think their choice will be straightforward, but after learning about each others’ lives, they realize it is much more complicated.

“Texas Rising”

Monday-Wednesday, 9 p.m., History

The History Channel had great success when they showed “Hatfieds & McCoys” on Memorial Day weekend several years ago. They are hoping for a repeat performance with “Texas Rising,” the story of the Lone Star State’s bid for independence from Mexico in 1836.

General Sam Houston (Bill Paxton) and his ragtag band of rangers take on the brutally impressive army of Mexican General Santa Anna (Olivier Martinez).

Running three nights, this miniseries has a huge cast, including Ray Liotta, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Brendan Fraser and Christopher McDonald.
