Asa Roberts, 18, had been wanted for the attack on the elderly woman who let him inside her home, where he forced her to “swear on a Jewish Bible” that she wouldn’t tell on him, a relative of the victim said.
“I’m turning myself in,” Roberts said after being caught hiding inside a Brooklyn man’s home where he had earlier broken in, according to police sources.
The hunt first started at his aunt’s house on Nostrand Avenue and Crown Street, where he went to collect cash from relatives, sources said.
His aunt alerted cops, the sources said.
He then walked over to his girlfriend’s house on Putnam Avenue.
Police were tracking his every move as he made his way into the apartment building, but Roberts soon realized cops were outside, sources said.
That’s when he fled out a window and down a fire escape, which sparked a foot pursuit by police.
Roberts was jumping over fences, trying to get away from them, a source said.
Police created a frozen zone and started pounding on doors searching for him, according to cops.
But a sneaky Roberts broke into Our Lady of Good Council Church on nearby Madison Street, according to sources.
He fled the location and then broke into another house on Putnam Avenue, where the pursuit ended.
Police knocked on the front door and were greeted by a homeowner who had no idea the sex fiend had broken inside, sources said.
That’s when Roberts emerged with his hands up and said, “I’m turning myself in.”
He had nothing on but a pair of slacks and was barefoot.
Charges against him were still pending Friday afternoon.
He was being questioned by the NYPD Special Victims Unit in Brooklyn.
