‘Blindspot’ and ‘Life in Pieces’ snag impressive debut ratings

Two new shows got off to a promising start on Monday, the first official night of the fall TV season.

CBS’ extended family comedy “Life in Pieces” opened to 11.5 million viewers at 8:30 p.m., following the season premiere of returning hit “The Big Bang Theory” (17.8 million viewers). That audience made it the network’s most-watched comedy debut since “2 Broke Girls” in 2011.

“The Voice” (12.1 million viewers) on NBC likewise gave a boost to “Blindspot,” which averaged 10.6 million viewers at 10 p.m. The FBI drama — which centers on a tattooed woman (Jaimie Alexander) with no memory of her past — became the network’s most-watched series premiere since “The Blacklist” debuted in the time slot two years ago (12.6 million viewers).
