The rollout of the Apple Car reportedly has been delayed until 2021.
According to a report by tech news site The Information, sources said that while Apple was targeting a 2020 rollout for the “Titan Project,” as the car is officially known, problems arose that forced a delay — chief among them being the departure in January of one-time Titan leader Steve Zadesky.
The information was contained in a profile of brothers Brian, Kevin, and Michael Sumner, former members of the Siri team who are now assigned to develop software for Project Titan.
The Information’s report also suggested that Apple needs to dramatically improve its cloud infrastructure if it is to handle all of the demands of an electric self-driving car in-house.
