Hare hoarder is late to her very important court date again

Brooklyn’s notorious rabbit matron flounced into court 20 minutes late Thursday, apparently flouting the judge’s ultimatum a day earlier that she would be thrown behind bars should she delay proceedings again.

Dorota Trec in court on Nov 2.

But Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Curtis Farber proceeded as normal, ignoring his previous threat and the fact that Trec’s track record shows a seeming inability to arrive on time.

On Tuesday, the first day of pre-trial hearings, the hare hoarder arrived over two hours late.

On Wednesday, she was nearly an hour behind because, as she announced, she was feeding her rabbit population—which has been booming despite repeated seizures of the cottontails.

Given Trec’s habitual lateness as the case drags on, Judge Farber has repeatedly threatened to jail her.

But he has yet to make good on that promise.

“He’s essentially renounced all authority over her,” griped Big Apple Bunny Founder and lawyer Natalie Reeves, who has been closely watching Trec’s case.

After scolding her Thursday, the judge even backed down when the rabbit fanatic declared she felt “harassed,” and gave her extra time to prepare.

Jury selection proceeded Thursday

Trec faces up to two years in prison if convicted on 12 counts of animal cruelty.

The trial is expected to last two weeks.
