Starbucks tries to revive Pokémon Go

It might seem that Pokémon Go is going, going, gone — but not if Starbucks can help it.

The coffee giant is launching a Pokémon Go Frappuccino in partnership with Niantic, the maker of the summer’s hit mobile game, whose popularity appears to be waning.

The Pokémon Go Frappuccino is a blend of Starbucks’ Vanilla Bean Frappuccino with raspberry syrup and freeze-dried blackberries, topped with whipped cream.

Also as part of the Niantic deal, over the next 12 weeks Starbucks will turn more than 7,800 of its US locations into “Pokéstops” or “Gyms.”

Pokéstops are places where players can pick up essential tools to keep playing. At Gyms, players can battle other Pokémon users.

To further revive interest in the game, Niantic plans to announce the addition of more Pokémon soon.
