Ivanka gets booed at women’s panel

Ivanka Trump was booed Tuesday during a women’s panel discussion in Berlin after the First Daughter touted her father as “a tremendous champion of supporting families.”

“I’m very proud of my father’s advocacy…He’s been a tremendous champion of supporting families and enabling them to thrive,” Ivanka said of her father, President Trump, during the W20 panel discussion alongside German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The crowd moaned and hissed in response.

Ivanka Trump was then put on the spot by the moderator, journalist Miriam Meckel, who asked her to address the disapproval from the audience.

“You hear the reaction from the audience, so I need you to address one more point,” Meckel said, adding “some attitudes toward women your father has publicly displayed in former times might leave one questioning whether he’s such an empower-er for women.”

To which the president’s daughter responded, “I certainly heard the criticism from the media, but I know from personal experience and I think the thousands of women who have worked with and for my father for decades when he was in the private sector are a testament to his belief and solid conviction in the potential of women and their ability to do the job as well as any man.”

During the panel discussion, Ivanka Trump disclosed that she’s still “rather unfamiliar” with her role in the White House.

When the moderator asked whether she represents the president, the American people, or her business, she replied, “Certainly not the latter, and I am rather unfamiliar with this role as well, as it is quite new to me.”

Ivanka Trump will have dinner with Merkel while in Germany.

The awkward exchange came weeks after President Trump infamously didn’t shake hands with Merkel during a photo op in Washington.
