How two beachgoers were rescued after they were hit by a police truck

Emergency service workers rush to the aid of two beachgoers hurt when a Long Beach police truck accidentally slammed into them, new footage shows.

The pair, described only as a man and woman, were hit at around 7:40 p.m. Sunday by an officer in a 2016 Chevy Silverado, according to authorities.

The injured pair laid on the ground as the rescuers surrounded them, the video shows. Then the rescuers loaded the woman into the back of a beach patrol lifeguard truck and drove away — joined by some lifeguards and paramedics sitting in the truck bed.

Moments later, paramedics carried the man into the back of an ambulance.

One of the injured was said to have suffered several broken ribs and a contusion, but it’s unclear if it was the man or the woman.

Meanwhile, some beachgoers still frolicked close to the shore and on the sand.

Lt. Mark Stark, of the Long Beach Police Department, told The Post that the accident appeared to stem from an issue of visibility — and that speed was not a factor.

The officer behind the wheel during Sunday’s accident was said to be a department veteran, with no prior incidents.
