Fundraiser for Charlottesville victim hits $225K

An online fundraiser for the family of the woman killed at an anti-racism counter-protest in Charlottesville has exceeded its original goal four times over, collecting $224,975.

“Heather Heyer was murdered while protesting against hate. We are raising money to give her family anything they may need,” GoFundMe campaign creator Felicia Venita Correa wrote on the page.

Heyer, a 32-year-old paralegal, was killed when Nazi nut James Alex Fields Jr. rammed into her and other counter-protestors Saturday, authorities said. Nineteen others were injured.

Her mother, Susan Bro, thanked President Trump Monday for finally condemning the violence that led to her daughter’s death.

The GoFundMe page is no longer active.
