Target of Louise Linton’s ‘adorably out of touch’ rant hits back

Jennifer Miller, the commenter who was called “adorably out of touch,” by Louise Linton, wife of Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, is striking back.

Miller, a mother of three who graduated from the University of Oregon, writes in an essay on CNN, “I don’t think she has any idea what everyday Americans deal with, especially when it comes to economic struggles. Since her husband is secretary of the treasury, it behooves her to find out.”

This week Linton received an onslaught of backlash after posting an Instagram of herself departing a government plane, hashtagging her designer duds. When Miller responded by saying “Glad we could pay for your little getaway #deplorable,” Linton lost it, condescendingly telling her ” “Cute! Aw!!! Did you think this was a personal trip?! Adorable! . . . Have you given more to the economy than me and my husband? … Pretty sure the amount we sacrifice per year is a lot more than you’d be willing to sacrifice if the choice was yours. You’re adorably out of touch.”

Miller isn’t having it. “While [Louise] has since apologized for her insensitive post, nothing she says now can negate the fact that her initial response to my frustration was to continue bragging about her wealth and to allege that her contributions to society have been more significant than mine,” she writes.

Continuing, “Americans are hurting — some even dying — as they struggle with racism, poverty and health care costs. And yet the wealthy Linton defends her boasting and derides me, a hardworking, taxpaying American, in the process. Her husband serves in the executive branch of our government. At the very least, she owes the American people the appearance of compassion and, to use her own word, humanity.”

Designers have already turned their back on Linton with Valentino and Tom Ford denying any ties to her or her Instagram post. As Page Six reported earlier this week, fashion insiders are buzzing that “Louise won’t be invited to Fashion Week or the big galas. And she certainly won’t be appearing in Vogue, if her wedding pictures [with Trump] hadn’t already killed her chances with Anna Wintour.”

Linton, an actress whose appeared in movies you’ve likely never heard of like “Serial Daters Anonymous ,” and “Screwball: The Ted Whitfield Story,” married Mnuchin, worth an estimated $500 million, in June.
