Meghan Markle’s style is pure ‘modern princess’

Meghan Markle won’t be married to Prince Harry of England until next spring, but she’s already fashion royalty.

Just ask the founders of Meghan’s Mirror, a blog that chronicles every white button-down, ripped pair of jeans and ballerina flat worn by the stylish 36-year-old “Suits” star.

“She’s modern and on-trend, while still being classic and elegant,” Meghan’s Mirror editor Christine Ross tells The Post, adding that young women can’t get enough of Markle’s effortless élan.

When Markle and Great Britain’s Prince Harry announced their engagement Monday, the coat she was wearing, by the Line, caused so much traffic to the Canadian brand’s web site that it crashed.

“Items she wears sell out quickly, often because they are very relatable to the everyday woman,” says Ross.

And according to experts, Markle’s more attainable, laid-back style — including $495 flats by Sarah Flint, affordable tote bags and T-shirts by Everlane and jeans by Mother Denim — isn’t likely to change much once she marries her prince.

“Prince William and Prince Harry have really revolutionized the role of the modern royal,” British fashion commentator Karen Kay tells The Post. Harry, in particular, has opened himself up to the public, she says, by posing for selfies, hugging his fans and speaking out about mental health.

“She will continue in a certain style that she loves and do it her own way as a very modern royal,” adds Kay, who thinks Markle may dethrone Kate Middleton as the UK’s most influential fashion plate.

“The Duchess of Cambridge [dresses] very formal. I think that Meghan will be a lot more relatable . . . She has fun with her wardrobe, and I think that’s what most women want to do.”

Here’s how to steal Megan Markle’s modern-day princess look.

Button Up

Ross, of Meghan’s Mirror, says that Markle’s style is marked by classic staples worn with an American, casual attitude. “She likes crisp white shirts,” says Ross, citing button-downs as one of the future duchess’ top style staples. She wore one, the Husband Shirt by her designer friend Misha Nonoo, for her and Harry’s first public outing together at Toronto’s Invictus Games along with her trusty flats, a taupe leather tote bag from Everlane and ripped denim — another Markle trademark. “She loves having one detail less than perfect,” says Ross.

Keep it brief

Markle loves showing off her slender gams. “Where lots of modern women would wear miniskirts, Meghan would wear shorts,” says Kay, citing the actress’ penchant for kicky shorts suits worn with high heels. “These were very thigh-high, buttocks-skimming shorts as well: These weren’t knee-length shorts or culottes.”

However, despite the more lax attitude Harry has adopted to royal dressing, Kay says the formal Daisy Dukes are a no-no. “We’ve already seen that she’s foregone the shorts,” she says.

Flatline

Markle’s low-key style is head-to-toe, as the actress favors ballet slippers, flat sandals and loafers to heels. She pairs her trusty shoes from designer Sarah Flint with everything from jeans to summer dresses.

Layer, layer, layer

Markle films her TV show “Suits” in chilly Toronto and the Canadian winters have definitely influenced her wardrobe. “When she’s in Toronto, it’s a lot of leggings and warm coats and knits,” says Ross. “She loves a long car coat.”

Even for Markle’s and Harry’s engagement announcement, the future duchess topped off her green sheath dress with a cuddly coat. “That’s going to be an iconic look for her, with that slouchy wrap coat, which is both elegant and yet relaxed at the same time,” says Ross.
