Fire chief accused of vomiting, peeing self while driving drunk

The heat is on a New Jersey fire chief accused of peeing his pants and vomiting while driving drunk.

Rahway Fire Chief William R. Young Jr., 60, was arrested Nov. 11 after police received calls about an “erratic driver” who almost hit a bus, according to My Central Jersey in a Wednesday report.

Authorities said they tracked down and pulled over Young in a white BMW in Jackson.

In a police report, officers said the vehicle reeked of alcohol and Young appeared to have “urinated himself.”

“I also observed a stain on William [Young]’s sweatshirt which I recognized to be from vomiting very recently,” Jackson Police Officer Michael Morizio wrote in the report.

Young told police he was returning from a party in Rahway, which is about 40 miles away from where he was pulled over.

Police performed field sobriety tests on Young before arresting him on charges for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and traffic on marked lanes.

His Breathalyzer test indicated his blood alcohol content was .12 percent, which is above the legal limit of .08.

While he was driven to the police station, Young “appeared to be nauseous and was constantly dry heaving,” according to the arrest report.

He was placed in a cell at the station, where he allegedly continued to vomit on the bench, floor and into a garbage pail.

When reached by phone, Young told the Woodbridge Patch on Thursday, “There is a lot [I] could say, but I can’t.”

Young is still listed as director and chief of the Rahway Fire Department on its website.
