Time Out! Dumbo set for eatery infusion

Time Out Market New York — a huge culinary mecca comprising restaurants, bars and food-related “cultural experiences” — has signed a lease for 21,000 square feet on two levels at Dumbo’s booming Empire Stores, The Post has learned.

The Brooklyn complex is modeled on the original Time Out Market in Lisbon, Portugal, which opened in 2014 and drew 3.6 million visitors in 2017. The new edition overlooking Brooklyn Bridge Park and the East River will include 520 seats indoors and outdoors.

The Market is expected to open later this year. It will boast offerings from a “curated” group of 20 eateries yet to be named, as well as three bars and a performance/exhibition stage. Customers will have a choice of counter seating for specific kitchens or communal seating served by grab-and-go stands.

Time Out Market is a division of London-based, publicly traded global media/entertainment company Time Out Group, which publishes the magazine of the same title. A new market is to open this year in Miami’s South Beach.

Empire Stores consists of seven 19th century waterfront warehouses that were converted to office, retail and dining spaces in 2016, after having long been vacant. They were redeveloped by a partnership of Midtown Equities, Rockwood Capital and the HK Organization.

Other major tenants at the Stores include furniture retailer West Elm, private club Soho House and Italian restaurant Cecconi’s.
