Kids keep thinking parents are going to ‘boat’ on Election Day

They say the midterms may deal some upsets this year. And for quite a few kids, who really thought their parents were headed out to “boat” this morning, this year’s election is already pretty upsetting.

Parents on Election Day shared the devastated reactions their kids had at their polling places upon hearing that they weren’t about to ship off, and instead, were just going to “vote.”

Even “Late Night” host Seth Meyers wasn’t safe from the verbal letdown. He shared a photo of his 7-month-old son looking only moderately appeased. “Our son was disappointed because he thought we were going to ‘boat’ but otherwise a success! #Vote”

Parents commented on his photo that their kids had the same misunderstanding. “My 3yo thought the same thing,” user Mallardduckk wrote. “She was terrified that we were going boating and then was disappointed when we didn’t.”

Staten Island mom Amanda Straniere says she couldn’t bear to correct her 3-year-old daughter Abby’s impression of her day’s water activities. So she’s putting it off till dinner time.

“Man is she in for a surprise!” Straniere wrote on Facebook.
