Gun-trafficking ring members sentenced to over 10 years

The last two defendants involved in a gun-trafficking ring that funneled more than 80 firearms into the city from “Iron Pipeline” states were sentenced Monday in Manhattan court.

Virginia-based dealers Trenton Pointer, 47, and Daemon Jenkins, 52, and their co-defendants sold more than three dozen pistols, revolvers and assault weapons to Abdul Davis, who unloaded them for more than $1,000 a pop to an undercover detective.

Pointer got 12 years in prison while Jenkins got 13. Earlier this year, Davis, 54, was sentenced to 35 years. They were all convicted at trial.

“These defendants accumulated weapons of war in ‘Iron Pipeline’ states and dumped them on to the streets of Manhattan for profit, putting the safety of countless New Yorkers up for sale,” said Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. in a statement.

Gun dealers Malik Rainey, of Georgia, and Milton Tillery, of Virginia, took plea deals and were sentenced to five years and up to three years, respectively.

“These men will spend a combined 66-and-a-half years behind bars for their dangerous conspiracy,” Vance said.

The gun-trafficking scheme started in March 2015 and stretched from New York to Georgia, according to the DA’s office.

A sixth defendant, Shelita Funderberk, 52, was acquitted at trial.
